Airtel primarily offers mobile broadband services utilizing HSDPA technology. A customer opting for a C 600 / C 300 / Prepaid data bundle will be able to enjoy speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps, provided the hardware used to terminate the services supports this technology (Eg. HSPA compatible dongles / Handsets). Customers using unlimited data connections will be able to enjoy speeds of up to 1.8 Mbps which will be provided on the same technology (HSDPA).
Theoretical bandwidth is technically defined as the amount of information that can flow through a network at a given period of time. The actual bandwidth available to a certain device on the network is actually referred to as throughput.
Although bandwidth can tell us about how much information a network can move at a period of time that actual network speeds are somewhat lower. We use the term throughput to refer to the actual bandwidth that is available to a network, as opposed to theoretical bandwidth.
Several different factors may affect the actual bandwidth a device gets. The number of users accessing the network, the physical media, the network settings, hardware capability, and many other aspects can affect bandwidth. |
